Mr. Dirceu João Duarte Talamini

Dirceu João Duarte Talamini

Degree in Agronomy from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), he joined the then National Research Center for Swine (CNPsu) in 1977, today Embrapa Swine and Poultry. In the following year, assumed as Deputy Head of Technical Department of the then National Research Center for Swine and Poultry (CNPSA), position he kept until 1984. He left as deputy head of the technical department to pursue a doctorate in England, and returned to Embrapa Swine and Poultry in 1990 to lead and manage research projects on meat production and market in Brazil. Former president of the Association of Agricultural Engineers of Alto Uruguay Catarinense and the Employees of Embrapa Swine and Poultry. Assumed as General Manager of the unit in July 1996, and held office for two consecutive terms, until April 2004 when he returned to research in Embrapa Swine and Poultry.

Diego Fracasso

.In 1955, began his career in the poultry business. At age 21, built the Santa Maria farm in the municipality of Rio Claro, interior of Sao Paulo. At that time, given the difficulties in the Brazilian market for the purchase of day old chicks of good quality, decided to start a small production to supply the demand. Later on, Santa Maria farm was succeeded by Ipê Avicultura Ltda., and then Ipê Agro-Avícola Ltda, period in which the company experienced strong growth. In 1992, decided to work in foreign market, initially exporting day-old chicks and hatching eggs to Argentina and Paraguay. After much research on lines for broilers, Ipê signed a contract with the Dutch Euribrid B.V, today Hybro B.V., for the production and marketing in the country of Hybro wombs for broilers. Today, Hygena represents the pioneering work in the area of poultry matrixes in Brazil.

Mr. Ariel Antonio Mendes

Ariel Antonio Mendes

Native of Lages, Santa Catarina, graduated in veterinary medicine from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) in 1971. Holds a Master's degree in animal science from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), 1977, and a doctorate in animal nutrition from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, 1985. In 1996, completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Arkansas (USA). He is currently a professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp), Botucatu campus. He is also president of the Apinco Foundation of Science and Technology (Facta), Scientific-Technical VP of the Brazilian Poultry Union (UBA), and Brazilian representative in the Latin American Association of Aviculture (ALA) and the Codex Alimentarius committee. He has published over 200 research papers, two books, and various texts on scientific and technical journals. Participated in 79 judging panels and 195 scientific events in Brazil and abroad.

Mr. Valdomiro Ferreira Júnior

Valdomiro Ferreira Júnior

Agronomist, business administrator and swine breeder. His background includes the development of pig farming in Brazil, mainly in São Paulo. President of the Association of Pig Breeders of São Paulo (APCS) for several terms, and president of the Brazilian Association of Pig Breeders (ABCS) between 1995 and 1998. Has since the mid-1990s presided the Chamber of the Pork Industry of the State of São Paulo. Coordinator of the project that launched the Pig Seal of São Paulo in 2004, a certification that integrates the Product Quality Program, created by the state government of Sao Paulo.

Mr. Jurij Sobestiansky

Jurij Sobestiansky

A veterinarian, Jurij Sobestiansky is a professor of the Veterinary School of Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG). Graduated from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in 1968, obtained a doctorate in veterinary medicine of swine from the University of Hanover in 1972, where he also did his post-doctoral work in 1993. Between 1980 and 1997, worked as a researcher at Embrapa Swine and Poultry, where he coordinated and implemented several research projects. He has published over 30 books, written 45 technical-scientific articles, and 101 book chapters. Major author of the first book on clinical swine pathology published in Brazil. In 1991, was awarded Merit Award diploma, presented by the Brazilian Association of Swine Specialist Veterinarians (Abraves). He was also awarded the title of Veterinary Professional in 1999, bestowed by the National Association of Industrial Products for Animal Health (Sindan).
