Mr. Roberto Rodrigues

Brazilian Agribusiness Personality

Roberto Rodrigues

Coordinator of the Agribusiness Center of Fundação Getulio Vargas, he is an agronomist with a doctorate from Universidade Estadual de São Paulo (Unesp). Former Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply between 2003 and 2006, and secretary of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo. Former president of the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives ("OCB"), the Brazilian Agribusiness Association ("Abag"), the National Agriculture Society ("SNA"), and the Cooperatives Progress and Advance Committee, comprised of the UN, the International Federation of Farming Products, and the World Credit Cooperatives, including other national and international entities. He is currently the president of the Board of the Agribusiness council of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo ("Fiesp") and titular professor of the Department of Economics of Unesp in Jaboticabal (SP).

Mr. Antonio Ortega

Antonio Ortega

Industrial director of the Flamboiã Aviary Slaughter House, he was an entrepreneur, one of the founding partners of the Flamboiã Group in 1973. Joined the meat industry as distributer of beef cuts. The group began as a butcher's shop in Vila Ema, São Paulo (SP), in 1964. In 1970, the business was sold to cousins Salvador Ortega Ohia and Moyses Escobar Ohia. After becoming a partner, the Flamboiã frigorific was erected in the city of Cabreúva, in the interior of São Paulo, where it has remained since. It serves the domestic market and foreign market such as Russia, Africa, Venezuela, Hong Kong, and east Europe. Besides the frigorific and integrated poultry farms for the breeding of wombs, the company has three hatcheries and 115 slaughterhouses. The group is also comprised of ration mills and a slaughterhouse. Antonio Ortega is a native of São Paulo, born in Presidente Alves, and died in June 4, 2010.

Mr. Mario Nakano

Mario Nakano

Veterinarian, graduated from Universidade de São Paulo (USP) in 1956, and doctorate in Science from the School of Medical and Biological Sciences of Universidade Estadual de São Paulo, Botucatu campus (SP). Bachelor of Science in Law, researcher, professor and consultant, former president and member of several entities linked to veterinary medicine, having worked for several years in the Biological Institute of São Paulo. Pioneer in the production of specific pathogen free (SPF) eggs in South America, destined for use in scientific research and vaccines in people and animals. Has published two books, 42 technical and scientific papers, and about 300 articles published in specialized magazines and newspapers, and which are used as bibliography and complementary work in several universities.

Mr. Umberto Brunelli

Brazilian Enterprising Swine Breeding Personality

Umberto Brunelli

Adviser of the São Paulo Association of Swine Breeders ("APCS"), and member of the Swine Chamber of Industry of the State of São Paulo, he is an enthusiast of the swine breeding causes. Italian, he came to Brazil in 1950. Ten years later, founded Transporte Pesado Brasil Agropecuária Ltda., a company specialized in special shipments. Moved to Jambeiro city (SP) in 1975. Received the title of "Jambeiro Citizen" in 2003, in acknowledgement of services to the city. Owner of "Fazenda Brasil", company that employees the most residents of the city, and one of the biggest swine breeders in the State of São Paulo. The entrepreneur is also a founding partner of the São Paulo Swine Trade Board, and is among the three swine breeders to have been in the industry the longest in São Paulo.

Mrs. Josete Garcia Bersano

Brazilian Swine Breeding Personality Technical Area

Josete Garcia Bersano

Director of the Center for Animal Health of the Biological Institute of São Paulo, she is a veterinary, graduated from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) em 1973. As a researcher, dedicates to the swine health area, especially the research and diagnoses of classic swine pest, Aujesky disease, swine parvovirus and swine circovirus diseases. Distinct performance in the development of research on subsistence swine breeding with the "Healthy Swine Breeding project: an Alternative to Subsistence Farming", published in 2003. Participates in the Swine State Health Program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Supply, with the lab support for the certification of reproduction poultry farms. Member of the São Paulo Swine health Committee, and disseminator of information on swine health, with several articles published on periodicals, historical records of congresses, newspapers and magazines.
