Dr. Otto Mack Junqueira

Otto Mack Junqueira

He holds a Bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine from the school of Biological and Medical Sciences of Botucatu-SP (1973), master's degree in animal science Concentration in Animal nutrition from the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1976) and a Ph.d. in Animal Science-University of Florida (1982). Professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho. Has experience in the field of animal husbandry, with emphasis on nutritional requirements of animals, working mainly on the following themes: nutrition and feeding of broilers, commercial laying hens and pigs; determination of the nutritional requirements and use of digestible amino acids, protein ideal and additives for monogastrics. He was a member of the Advisory Committee of CNPq. is a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian College of Animal nutrition (CBNA). Is Scientific Adviser of FAPESP, CNPq Researcher since 1997 Level 1B and PNPD Project Coordinator/Capes. Visiting Professor PVNS/CAPES in Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG), Campus of Jataí since September 2012.

Dr. Janice Reis Ciacci Zanella

Janice Reis Ciacci Zanella

Veterinarian graduated of Federal University of Minas Gerais, master and Ph.d. in Molecular Virology at the University of Nebraska, USA. She is a researcher at EMBRAPA in the area of Animal Virology developing research projects in several viruses of pigs as Swine Influenza virus of Aujeszky's disease virus and Porcine circovirus type 2 virus which held the first diagnosis in Brazil. Participated in the coordination of the programme for the eradication of Aujeszky's disease in Santa Catarina (2001-2005) and is also Chairman of the Steering Committee of Animal Health Projects Portfolio of EMBRAPA and articulator of Embrapa's international pigs and poultry. As a leader of research projects received eight national awards. From 2008 to 2010 was visiting researcher at the USDA Lab in Ames, Iowa, United States, convenio-ARS-Embrapa Labex/where she developed research in swine influenza virus, especially the new pandemic H1N1 virus and of PRRSV. Represents the Brazil project to coordinate global surveillance of influenza in swine with the OIE-FAO.

Dr. José Graziano da Silva

José Graziano da Silva

Born in November 17, 1949 in the city of Urbana, Illinois, His parents are Brazilians of Italian descent (Calabria region), which gives triple citizenship: American (from birth), Italian Brazilian soul and heart. Agronomist, teacher and writer, graduated as an agronomist in 1972 by Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz of the University of São Paulo, where he also majored in 1974, with dissertation focusing on the distribution of income in the country. He graduated from the University of Campinas in 1980, becoming in this institution professor of agricultural economics. It has, still, postdoc at the University of California and at the Institute of Latin American studies of the University College London. Wrote several works on the agrarian question in Brazil. Between 2003 and 2004, he served in the Cabinet of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as extraordinary Minister of food security and hunger decrease, being responsible for the implementation of the Zero Hunger program, an initiative that contributed to 28 million people to leave the poverty line during the Lula Government.

In June 26, 2011, was elected Director-General of the United Nations food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), being the first Latin American to achieve this Honorable position in the global scenario.
